Hattler

For more than 25 years, Karlssonwilker has designed albums and promotional material for the eminent German jazz musician and composer Hellmut Hattler. It is perhaps our most formative collaboration, as the complete freedom we have enjoyed for each project has helped navigate the development of our studio's visual vocabulary. Hattler's CDs run as a red thread through our work, from the earliest Karlssonwilker days, which were dominated by black and white off-the-cuff vector images in boxes, to the first experiments with abstract shapes that were the precursor to our computer graphics explorations. Each project has been an open-ended process, allowing us to capture a feeling and a mood, rather than ideas.
